outstanding=isolation??
"in a race between animals, a bunch of rats decided to run together, completing the race together…as the days go by, one of the rats realised that he could run faster than the others. he was in a dilemma, whether to leave the group and follow his own speed, or to continue moving along with the group.
moving along with the group means it would slow down his progress to the finish point. on the other hand, being the outstanding one means he would be isolated from his group, from his friends…..he would be alone then…"
human are often contradicting. nobody wants to be alone in this world….everyone has his/her lonely times. i’m sure you know that awful feeling….thus we are constantly trying to find company, friends in our lives. with them around, life seems more colourful…somehow.
on the other hand. to survive in this world, it’s difficult to settle with being just "ordinary"… we are taught to toil up the ladders, to reach the top. we are to strive to be somewhat outstanding, extraordinary, special, to be a person that ppl would remember, rather than just another person that anyone could replace. how much outstanding you are determine your "value" in this society.
as you climb up the pyramid, you become the "minority" that everyone below look up at. you enjoy the fame and trust not everyone gets, boosting your confidence higher than before…. that is the "recognition" that we look for in something that we do…
being the minority also mean that u have less ppl to share your thoughts. you constantly have the feeling that you are often not understood. less ppl to share your feelings, thoughts, joy and sorrow…the "majority" where u came out from can’t seem to keep up with your pace, while the "minority" group where you are at now are your competitors to become the lesser minority in the future…and you might just be the stepping stone for it….how could u share your problems with them then??
ppl with common interest and quality tend to group together. otherwise is true for different quality. being outstanding means trying to be different.
so does it mean while you are trying to find a group to fit in, you are at the same time isolating yourself from it???
