The Duomo di Milano, located at the centre of its square is the second largest cathedral in the world, one of the largest church in the world, and the largest marble collection in the world.

88001_2 sorry you can’t see the whole view of the castle from the anterior view. it was under renovation.

the interior of the duomo is absolutely marvellous. though i can’t fully appriciate it as a non christian, the design of the cathedral is simply breathtaking. all the minor details was considered very carefully. it shows how the people appriciate their religion, expressed in a very artistic way….

but what makes this cathedral different from others is that it has "spikes" all around it.

88002_1

each spike consist of carefully carved sculpture…so many of them…makes you wonder how the people in 17th century did all that…with limited knowledge and technologies….it’s even almost a miracle to re-build another one of this cathedral. the person who design it must be a genius…

with a fee, you can take the stairs (about 150) up to the roof of the duomo, where you can look at the sculpture up close…and have a great view of the whole Milan city…many scenes from movies and mtv(s) are taken from here too…
