the art of “packaging”…

when u go to supermarket to buy a product, and u face dilemma when you see so many choices of the  products of the same kind available. how would u choose?

the one that would convince you to buy, or even have a glance on it…..it’s most probably the nicest "packaged" ones….

thus, the packaging of a product plays an important role, maybe the most important one, sometimes not in the quality of the product itself directly…..but in the process of selling the product…

for example….i wanna buy sugar… i know there’s not much difference in different brand of sugar/…..it will still taste the same..so how would i choose which brand to buy? of course i’ll choose the one with nicer packet with beautiful design…although i know that won’t affect the quality of the sugar that i’m buying…

another one…. when i buy a book, i will always look through the cover to see if it has any defects….(torn, crumpled etc)….of course the content of the book it’s the same….but who would choose a crumpled book cover over a perfectly smooth one??

my point is, in real life, the art of "packaging" plays essential role in helping us in various ways too…

"packaging" here can be explaint as how you present yourslef to other people. very often the first impression plays a crucial role.

there are many people who don’t really have what it actually takes to do something…but they are always prefered and would be 1st choice because of the mastering of this art… they are like empty cans, but a well packaged one….thus, untill someone actually try it and feel its "emptiness" and discovers its uselessness, the empty can would still be thought as a better choice compared to the others….

on the other hand…the best quality product, but packaged in a rather simple and unattractive manner, would not even be considered and would often be thought as the last choice. it doesn’t matter how good it is, because there’s no chance anyone would know…as no one would even be interested to try it…

so, as i’ve said. people who are good at presenting themselves will have advantages in many things… due to ability to speak nicer words, have the guts to ask and answer question, show intense interest and concentration, give out gifts on special events….etc…. which would give good impression to others… and thus would save them alot of trouble in the future…

some call them hypocrites, ass kissers etc…..

but i would reckon it as mastering of an important social skill…..which i call it the art of packaging…

of course….it’s rather annoying for those people who do things step by step to see those who progress faster by this "express" methods… and they would get angry of them….

i’m not saying that everyone should pick the shortcut to achieve success in their career…. and i’m not saying the "empty can" can cheat the whole world forever just by its beautiful appearance….it’s just that these people would have certain advantage to some extend….

of course…only the quality products can withstand the passing of time….sooner or later…the "empty cans" would reveal their "emptiness" and would be thrown into the recycle bin….

but then which is worse? being good at something but never have the chance to show it…..or not knowing something but had the chance to pretend that u know it….although being discovered u don’t know anything afterall??

thus you do not just need to be good, you need to let others know that u are good. expess yourself, forget about the ego….

and by saying this i’m not saying you should do anything that goes against your principles…

so how do u "package" yourself?

first u need to look tidy, clean, smart….dress up well, comb your hair, etc….of course if your face is beautiful and handsome, it would bring u extra points…..(not in my case, of course)

be confident, feel and look confident….

the way you initiate communication is important…1st impression is often the determining factor of whether the communication would be sucessful.so create a good 1st impression

verbal and body language is important too…of course…characteristics of a person can often be seen from these 2 factors….

one perfect of "packaging" example is our academy….during the pass few years… lots of money has been spent on renovating and beautifying the "external part" of the  buildings…anatomy departments, dental department…so when the visitors from different countries came here….they would be brought around these "well-packaged" building…. who cares if the facilities inside is as grand as the external parts looks….the 1st impression of the academy as a whole overall is good…

of course….a part of this "art" is able to hide your weakness…..because it would be major pullback…and nobody would be interested to know about it…..(one exception :me)

we could convineintly take the above example….the art is perfectly practised… those places yet to be renovated would not be brought to visit…..the admin would create a super good impression to the visitors that they would question our trustworthy if we tell them that we are treated unfairly in certain issues…..it’s almost impossible to them that we are actually telling the truth….

of course, to buy beautiful packaged "empty cans", you’ll need idiot customers….because clever customers will be able to see them in a glance…..(or maybe a few)…

but then, we shall discuss about these stupid customers some other time….
