a tragedy in the airport….
this happened to my groupmate. it’s a true story.
she was supposed to come back to russia few days before me.
but a tragedy happened to her in KLIA.and she just reached yesterday(3 weeks later).
she took a flight from her hometown and reached KLIA early, probably early enough for her to decide to take a short nap.
she was alone, and no one was around to look after her belongings.
for safety, she decided to sit right in front of CCTV so that in case anything happen, there will be record of it.
when she woke up, she was shocked to find all her precious belongings LOST. laptop, cameras, visas….etc.
u can guess that she was traumatized at that time, not knowing what to do….
but her material lost cant be compared to the trouble she had to go through for the the lost of a tiny piece of green paper called visa. yes, it’s the visa to re-enter russia.
and because of that, she didn’t take the flight back to russia that day—-the lost of rm 1000++ worth of air ticket.
we are having cycles….and we are having the toughest one in this sem as the first cycle. and she missed the entire cycle. one thing about studying med is that u can’t affort to miss any of the classes….i don see how she can find time to make up for that lost of 3 weeks… all i can help is to give tuition for her….if she wants la that is…
she said she almost had nervous breakdown….
and back to what happened in malaysia. she made a police report, but the police told her of the extremely slim chance of finding her belongings back.
that’s fine. but when she asked about the record of CCTV which they spend millions installing all over the airport, the personels claim that it was not functional.
how to imagine these tragedy happening in the so called "world class" international airport??
isn’t an international airport supposed to provide a safe environment for the customers??
maybe it’s because she’s a malaysian… i mean would things be any different in the way they handle the case if it was a foreigner who theatened to report it to the embassy..?? and thus in the fear of spoiling malaysia’s image….the CCTVs might be "functional" again……..
the prosedure of making a new visa is not easy definitely. esp visa to russia. she needs to send a letter to the officer in malaysia, then they need to go though a few parties to get it done. although it’s juz a simple piece of paper, it’s not surprising at all that the russians took a total of 3 weeks to process a new visa for her….
on the other hand, another friend, who went back and came back again, didn’t know he needed visa to enter russia….and he had to fly back again to apply it…another waste of time and money case. but then it seemed funny to me the first time i hear it…..although i do pity him….sincerely…
this is a story told not to hurt anyone or any party…juz a lesson we should all learn….
advice to all my friends who is flying(on the plane)….do keep a close eye on your belongings…or the consequences might be unbarable….
i hope my friend recovers from her trauma soon….
