a lesson from driving…

during my first few driving lessons, i learnt something that i think could be applied in life.

#1: DON’t LOOK BACK…..let the cars which has passed you be the past. the cars at your back is non of yuor concern. pay attention on what is coming. look in front of you, your left, your right, but not your back…

#2:when driving, the only concern is the car directly in front of you…and you should respond only to it.when it stops, you stop. you shouldn’t care about what 2 or 3 cars ahead is doing, whether they are racing against each other, or one of them hit the pillar….

so what are the significance of the 2 "golden rule"??

well, the first one is obvious. we should not look back at our past. just let it be. we can’t do anything to cahnge them. pondering too of what has happened to you is a waste of time and decentralize our attention…who knows, while you are driving, looking at the back thinking of the car that juz passed u…..a big truck is just heading your way……..

the second one is more interesting.

i think we should not plan too far ahead. well, plan what u wanna do in next half of the year, 1, or 2 years ahead is ok…..but for a person to plan 50 years ahead , about where he/she’s gonna be, plan his son’s or daughter’s road is not only tak masuk akal(doesnt make sense), he or she is also challenging the ability of God to alter all the plans…or should i say deny the existence of infinite chances and possibilities for all his/her plans NOT to happen.

to plan too far ahead is to give a chance for your plans to go wrong.because mostof the time, the result would not be the same as our "ideal" plan in the first place. and to see too far, while ignoring the obvious right in front of your eyes makes you another moron and an unhappy person.

of course i’m not saying we should do things without any plans.moderate plannings are good. but don overdo it.

planning far ahead is an indication that you do not have the ability to face spontaneous challenges coming. it’s the fear that you can’t handle sudden situation, which differ from your plans.

i didn’t think i would say this….but i admire the russians to be able to handle sudden situation very calmly….as if everything is in theirfingertips, under control. and thus, they do not plan. they are good in coming out with sudden ideas….

i think it makes sense. in medicine, there are too many possibilties and unsuspected situation every day….one must be able to be flexible and handle those situation they way they should..

probably this is what i get for staying there for 2 years….bad habit?? good habit?? it’s up to you to judge…

You know what happened to Russia for not planning far ahead and decided to open up their economy as well as their politics drastically???

KABOOM!!! Economic meltdown, from world power to the russia today.

It’s good to be able to adapt to new stuff, but it’s even more important to plan ahead even you know the plan will be changed when time goes by, that’s part of adapting too… so I wouldn’t say planning or not planning is better. They are both as significant.

wow, i wonder how many people would actually have related these two rules in driving to life as a whole. i definitely agree with you on the whole. haha, but 1 thing la. if you’re reversing the car, please don’t look in front. always look at the mirror or behind! =P

Bad habit for the 1st one..
What do you think back mirrors are for? Imagine someone is rushing his time during an emergency, he flash his light at you coz u’re blocking his way on the speed lane. If you’re not looking at the back mirrors how wud u know he’s indicating that he wants to overtake you? Unless you tell me you dont drive on speed lane.

Bad habit for 2nd one.. Planning too far is not wise but in driving it’s different.

As a good driver we should look infront at least 2-3 cars away. For instance, 3 cars infront suddenly caught in accident, and emergency brake. If you’re far enough and early enough to notice it, you cud still brake slowly. If you just looking at the car infront you, he hits the brake hard u bang on him and the car behind u bang on you …

BAD BAD BAD .. Driving is all about being moderate in the road as well as giving your concentration, not taking all the minor aspects for granted.
