singapore trip
the news about my uncle’s death was shocking. but i went to singapore as planned anyway….
i’ve been asking people around to go there for a few nights stay….but apparently (unfortunately), everyone is busy and unable to suit the time i’m going there…
well, i’ve decided to wait no more.since candice is the only one free now, i asked her to join. and she agreed.
it’s kinda wierd for me that only both of us are going….but wat to do…
we stayed in a backpacker hostel…called summer tavern, it’s probably the cheapest accomodation u could find in singapore. we stayed in a dorm with 30 beds in it where people from other countries stayed there too. local calls and internet access is free… with free breakfast (coffee or tea& 2 slices of bread everyday.
it took us 4 hours of bus journey to singapore. i slept almost throughout the journey.
once checked in, we didn’t waste much time. as our hostel is located near clark quay, we decided to pay a visit there. then we walked our way through the bridge to other places such as the art house, victoria theatre and concert hall, raffle’s walk, merlion park. they say it’s a must-go place when u go singapore…after that went to the chinatown, which reminds me of the jonker walk back in melaka. there was a Sri Mariamman Temple nearby which i remember seeing on tv…..forgot when.
the transportation in singapore is good. it took us sometime to get familiar with the system there. but soon, we were able to travel at will to the place we want. it’s pretty convienient….and easy.
the next day we went to little india. nothing surprises me there. then we headed to jurong bird park. what i can say is that the way they organize that place is good. the birds seemed happy staying there…there were about 9200 birds there… the place was nice, the only thing is that we wasted 1 hour to wait for the bus there.
next was a trip to the famous, so called "must visit" sentosa island. we reached there at about 230pm, no thanks to the delay at jurong bird park…it’s a cool place to hang out if u are really loaded…hehe…but if otherwise, sorry la…you’ll have to check ur wallet everytime u do anything.
so let’s see, we went to the butterfly and insect kingdom, which not many butterflies could be seen, (i have to say, it’s nothing compared to the mlk’s butterfly farm), the merlion, where we got to know the origin of this creature, the sky tower, the sky ride, and to the images of singapore, which is kinda same as the mlk museum.(the concept la i mean).
i wasn’t too impressed or surprised with the singapore culture lesson in "images of singapore", probably because there are similarities with the malaysia’s culture. but i do like the way they put it.
the event of the day is the magical fountain. with combination of 3d graphics and the water fountain, they’ve created a cool musical fountain show…..that’s probably the only thing i like about that island….too bad my camera no battery that time…..sigh….if not could take some cool picture.
on the last day, we paid a visit to ochard road, a place full of shopping complexes. we ate there and then headed to kranji to meet up with my uncle who fetch me straight back to mlk.
singapore it’s a nice place. it’s a clean country. it’s place worth visiting once, but not the second time( fo travelling purpose la…for me)….but ther are many things to shop here not available in m’sia.( if only i am rich and earning pound sterling)….so i guess you can say it’s a "shopping heaven"….
ohya…for the pictures i took…..please click here.
